Display Name Helper

After staring at my old display name (student with enthusiasm) for 10 minutes, I decided that it needs a change. After using google to see how people think of cool names, I came across this site:

Screen Name Generator

And so my current, and awesome name is finally revealed! I am a really sensitive & emotional person, so the name fits me perfectly. I must admit, it is hard to think of an unique name, especially for a practical person like me, hehe.

Train Ride to Seattle

AMTrak Cascade Train Ride

I met a friend through internet and never thought we'd meet in person, till he came to Vancouver. There are  people have a "netglow", meaning they have a very charming personality on the internet, which makes them less than ordinary in real life. I was hesitant when he said i'd visit him in Seattle. My friend Chris came to Vancouver for a weekend and we decided to meetup. It was a short hangout but it was a pleasant experience. This changed my mind, and decide to buy a ticket to see him.

After knowing the option of taking the AMTrak train to Seattle, we decided on a weekend where i'd pack my bags and left Vancouver for the weekend. It was hard to plan a weekend when both of us would be free. Why? Because its December. I would pretty much say this month is the busiest time of the year for vacation trips, festive events, family gatherings, and etc. Though I have finals this week, the work load was less intensive than the previous semesters. For me, its still doable to get all the last minute assignments/projects done before heading out. So I stayed at his place for the weekend and did one of my finals there.

The train ride had me experience motion sickness, for the first time. There's little to do on the train so I spent hours surfing the internet on my ipad2. After focusing for a prolong period of time, my head was spinning for a day and a half after the 4 hour train ride. I went during the 5:45-10:50pm time interval, so its was dark out. However, the train's interior was so beautiful it made up for the missing scenic view.

The chairs were bigger than normal ones in the plane. They were made out of leather, in a light hazel color. The windows was dull red, with black swirly patterns. The train floor had a light colored carpet which made insulated the heat for everyone. Surprisingly, the whole train were not entirely filled with passengers so everyone had an extra seat beside them to put their belongings. For over-sized baggages, there's a metal rack at the end of each train stall available for passengers. The doors between each train stalls had an automatic glass door, with a silver-lining rim. The washrooms were the same size as ones you use on the plane.

Its a good option if you don't like to drive on the highway in the States, like me. Or if you want to take a trip for a weekend getaway without spending too much on the airfares.

Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You

Came across this song while YouTube-ing for DIY Christmas Cards (which I will attempt to start soon).

This song brings back so much memories, the once happy moments of my life.
I felt really emotional hearing it, for the tenth time.
Alone, in my bedroom.

There's always someone, sometime in your life who teaches you to grow up.
They share with you the happiest moments.
But they also give you the most painful experiences.
Feeling the piercing pain in your heart, filling tears in your eyes.
Sleepless nights just thinking about the same damn thing, non-stop.

Its those people who I am thankful for.
I've learned to depend on no one but myself.

"pain makes you stronger, tears makes you braver. Heartbreaks makes you wiser so thank the past for a better future." -- Via Twitter

Getting back to writing.

When I was little, finding penpals have been an exciting journey. The very first time was through a column in a comic book. Then moved on to internet, where they have sites with users who post their address, hobbies, and etc. As I got focused to school more, my writing routine have slowly died out... Till when I started using twitter and started looking into getting back to writing. There are two amazing sites I found recently and really wanted to share with everyone:

(picture taken from the site's blog)

For the first one, its created by a group of passionate people who spreads love to the world. By gathering people from around the world, strangers from different parts of the world will write letters filled with love and encouragement, to help those through difficult times. Sometimes we are not as strong as we look. The little thoughts strangers take, makes a big difference. For Christmas, I have signed up for "12 days of Christmas" mission. Due to my finals, I chose two specific dates for which I will express my love to those who may need it to get through obstacles. Please sign up!

Help others and tell them "you are a brave individual, you can get through this! There are many people who stand by you, look and reach."

This pen is so heavy! Next time let's just get a stamp with our names on it, ok Little Ana?

Found this site from twitter, you basically mail your postcard to anyone! When the person receives it, you can request one back from another stranger :) How it works: Everyone is given a code & they write it on the postcard. The receiver then writes the code on his/her account to signify they have received it. A very creative interaction between people of different places!

Its really amazing how we use advanced technology to going back with "pen & paper". I personally like writing a hard copy than typing into the computer. Feels less of a robot, more of a "human".
